About the conference
The Centre for Legal Research and Policy Studies, ICFAI Law School, IFHE, Hyderabad, convened a Two-Day International Colloquium on the Law of the Sea on 18 and 19 August 2026. The Colloquium examined how the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea is holding up against climate stress, deep seabed mining, contested chokepoints and the 2023 BBNJ Agreement.
Papers were presented across four tracks: Climate Change and Coastal Rights; Small Island States and Ocean Justice; Maritime Security and the Indian Ocean Region; and an online cross-cutting track covering fisheries governance, deep seabed mining, BBNJ accountability, climate liability and undersea infrastructure.
Thirty-six papers were presented across the offline and online sessions. Presenting authors are invited to submit their full papers through this platform against the paper code allotted to them. Selected papers will be taken forward for publication in a Scopus-indexed volume following double-blind peer review.
